FUEL SURCHARGE COMMUNICATION – 05. 03. 2017

FUEL SURCHARGE COMMUNICATION – 05. 03. 2017

0.43% from 5th March 2017

The attached Fuel Levy Index, which is available from our web site shows the actual price that Circle has paid for derv fuel and the average price paid over the past 3 months, three reference periods.

Our flexible fuel surcharge levy scheme was introduced on the 1st August 2005 on the basis that it would be a fair and transparent system for our clients to monitor the price we pay for our fuel relative to our current tariff. As already mentioned, these figures are available for inspection on our web site.

To remind you of this scheme, our current published rates are calculated using our standard fuel benchmark by applying 0.48% increase for every 1 pence over 97 pence per litre (ppl)

As Circle Express purchases its fuel on a weekly-based price, adjustments would be made both downwards as well as upwards, depending on the price of oil.

The latest reference period which is relative to January confirms that the average fuel costs to us has just exceeded our standard fuel benchmark of 97.0 ppl.    The attached graphs show that it opened at 98.60ppl and closed at 97.23ppl giving us an average of 97.90ppl over the term which will attract a 0.43% Fuel Surcharge across all of our services from the 5th March 2017

I thank you for your continued support of Circle Express and I remain available to answer any queries you may have. I can be contacted on 01753 214638.

Yours faithfully

Rico acquires majority holding in Circle Express

Rico acquires majority holding in Circle Express

The day to day operations and management will not change although upper management will have a new reporting structure into Rico.

Circle Express is one of the largest independent networks offering a collection and delivery service specifically targeted at the UK air freight forwarding industry and is the preferred UK Freight Distribution carrier for many International Freight Forwarders

With over 30 years experience, Circle Express has an annual turnover in excess of £29million with a countrywide fleet of 300 vehicles operating out of 8 Aviation Security listed depots near the airports at Heathrow, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and a cross dock facility in Milton Park, Abingdon.

Circle Express is the only UK operator fully licensed to transport all classes of hazardous materials including firearms & ammunition, and Radio-active, toxic, flammable, corrosive and explosive material.  Circle Express leverage this core capability and also offer both ADR and CPC training within its service offering.

Tom Ryan, Circle Express Managing Director said “This great opportunity will give Circle the financial backing and work collaboration opportunities to move forward and strengthen its position in our industry.  Rico already have 1400 Sameday Couriers operating in the UK, they are all CRB checked and some also PES checked, so with our ADR training facilities we can quickly up-skill these drivers to ADR capability which is mandatory for our operations, we can then provider a much stronger same day service to our customer base”

Sam Sharma, Rico Global CEO said, “we are proud to bring Circle Express into the Rico business, as it’s a fantastic opportunity to expand our Sameday capability, generating higher premium services across the UK. This acquisition will bring us some more depots to add to our existing 48 sameday depots across the country and builds our larger vehicle and trunking capacity within our operations”

Sam Sharma added “this is another strategic acquisitions for Rico which will continue in the   future in order to strengthen Rico’s operational capability and Service portfolio across all its different lines of business both in the UK and Internationally”

CPC Driver Training Bottleneck for Haulage Industry in 2013?

CPC Driver Training Bottleneck for Haulage Industry in 2013?

Driver CPC was introduced in 2008 for bus and coach drivers and in 2009 for the haulage industry. Since then, over 420,000 drivers have started their training. But time is running out for those drivers that haven’t yet undertaken the training.

Driver CPC Training is mandatory and all professional bus, coach and lorry drivers must complete 35 hours’ training every five years to get qualified and stay qualified. The deadline for the bus and coach drivers to complete their first 35 hours of training is September 2013. Haulage drivers have until September 2014.

Waiting until the deadline is nearer brings no advantage – drivers will be covered by their training for five years from the deadline date, not the training date. By waiting until the deadline is nearer, drivers are in fact putting their qualification at risk a bottleneck of thousands of drivers needing training in the space of a year will result if the demand for CPC Driver Training outstrips the supply.

A number of concerned industry bodies are recommendating that organisations should focus on the benefits of what Driver CPC can do for their business and set up a training plan now to avoid having to remove drivers from the road if the deadline is missed.

The CPC Training can then be tailored to address some of your largest costs and threats relevant to that particular organisation since the benefits are considerable.

Driver awareness training will lead to less wear and tear on vehicles and fewer accidents. You can organise training courses to reduce the chance of collisions or loads falling from vehicles , or look at driving techniques to reduce fuel consumption, which could have significant paybacks for business.

There are also a range of specialist modules that can be combined with CPC Training. For example undertaking an ADR Training (Dangerous Goods course can contribute 21 hours of the 35 hours required to complete the CPC Training. Also with the growth of Boris Bikes cyclists on London’s streets bike safety is now gaining greater aware and Lorry drivers in London will now have the option to add a cyclist awareness course to their CPC training for free partly funded by Transport For London.

Circle Express are leading providers of Driver CPC Training so please use the call back form below to enquire about course availability
